The Department of Examinations of Sri Lanka has released the results of the G.C.E Advanced Level Examination held in August 2015.Twenty one (21) students obtained A’s in all three subjects,while 25 Students got 2A. Miss.Shalom Dushyanthy Gurupatham of Bio stream (English Medium) obtained the 4th rank in district level. Miss.Kuhajini Mahendrarajah came 3rd in district in Commerce stream and Miss. Suthana Rajendran of Bio System Technology stream secured the 3rd district rank. This is yet another remarkable performance of our students who really made a great impact on the newly introduced Technology stream too.(Best Results)
Our school won the “BEST WEB APPLICATION”, award in the Yarl Geek Challenge competition which was conducted by Yarl It Hub on 17th of October 2015 at TCT Hall, Nallur, Jaffna. Sankavi Yoganathan, Saraga Ganeshakumaran and Krishalini Sellathurai created a web application in the heading of ‘TECHNO STREAM’. This site is a knowledge source for G.C.E (A/L) Technology stream. Award Ceremony of National Level Information Technology School Champions Competitions held jointly by the Information and Communication Technology Branch of the Ministry of Education, Sri Lanka Information Technology Industrial Board (FITIS) and Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) was held at the auditorium of the ministry of education on 24.11.2015. Sukanya Manoharan was awarded 1st place Northern Province & 6th place National Level Senior Category -Government Schools at the 7th National Level School ICT Championship & 14th Young Computer Scientist Competition 2015.
Oli vizha of 2015 has been celebrated grandly on 01st of December. The Christmas message was given by chief guest Rev.Fr.Regi Rajeswaran. The occasion was organized well under the instructions of teacher in charge Ms.S.Sinnathurai and forwarded by the president of Christian union, Ms.V.L.Nirojene. The programmes were started according to the tradition with bidding the prayer. And then as usual carols and readings were followed on. The function had several programmes as songs, dances and dramas. The Angel Dance was very amazing with our little angels. The programmes came to an end with the arrival of santa clause and it was the most enjoyable moment.(Photos)
Our school awarded Best in Northern Province for excellence in its Report at the Best Annual Report and Accounts competition of National Schools 2015. (Annual Report and Accounts for the year ended 31st December 2014) It was organized by the Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.(Photos)
English day of our school was held on 12th of November 2015 at Mabel Thambiah hall. Mr.Sivagi Kanthasamy (Visiting lecturer, University of Jaffna) was the chief guest at this occasion. Mrs. M.J.S. Muthukumarasamy (Lecturer, Teachers Training College of Kopay) reviewed the book “Flamboyant”. Outstanding performance of our students were staged and they made this day as absolute beauty. Our school Annual Science Day was celebrated on 4th of November 2015 at 11a.m. Mr.Ac.Thavaranjith (Senior Lecturer, Grade I, Department of Botany, University of Jaffna) was the chief guest. The A/L batch of 2015 science union organized the above function. Our chief guest launched the “ARUMBU” Magazine. It was reviewed by Mr.P.Vijayakumaran (Lecturer, College of Education, Copay). The first copy accepted by Mr.Kanesu Senthilvadivel (Principal,Jaffna Puththakaladdy Srivishnu Vidyalayam, Avarangal).e-arumbu website [http://www.vembadiscu.com] also launched for the fifth time. The chief guest was Mr.Kunchithapatham Gowthaman (District mental Health Officer, District secretariat, Jaffna) further Mrs.Lavanya Sukanthan (ADE, Zonal Education Office, Jaffna) also joined in this occasion as our special Guest. Function was started with lighting the oil lamp. Our Students performed various programmes. Vijayadhasami pooja was held on 22nd of October 2015. Grade 11 students organized the pooja. At 9 a.m “Initial the Education” programme was held and our madam principal honoured the programme as our initiater. The Hindu union organized the Vani Vizha programme. Our School celebrated the Navarathri Puja on 13th October 2015 to 22nd October 2015 in our main hall. In these 9 days of puja, first three days, we celebrated to the goddess of bravery and courage “Durga Devi”. This puja were organized by grade 10, grade 12 Bio, Maths stream students and grade 6 students. Middle three days of Navarathri Puja, we worshiped the goddess of wealth and prosperity “Lakshmi Devi”. This puja were celebrated by grade 13 Commerce, Arts, Technology stream students, grade 8 and grade 9 students. Last three days, we celebrated to the goddess of education “Saraswati Devi”. This puja were celebrated by grade 13 Bio, Maths stream students, grade 7 and grade 12 Commerce, Arts, Technology stream students. Tomorrow morning (22-10-2015) initiating the education program will be held and our madam principal will be the initiator.(Photos)
Dineja Jeyard Joicy Payus of our school won the 3rd place in Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships 2015 held in Pune , India. She is the first girl from vembadi who created the history in Commonwealth games. We congratulate her on her huge success and be proud as being a part of nation’s success. (Photos)
World Mental Health Day is observed on 10th October every year. Our school celebrated the Mental Health Day on 12th October 2015. Miss Vaishnavi Sanmuganathan graced the occasion as the chief guest. Further Mrs.Puththisikamani (In service adviser, Zonal Education office, Jaffna) also joined on this occasion as our special guest. The events started with lightning the traditional oil lamp. Our students performed various programmes and showed their talents. Principal gave a blessing address and chief guest delivered valuable views among the students to find the ways to maintain good mental health.(Photos)
Teachers’ day was grandly celebrated on 6th of October 2015 in Mabel Thambiah hall at 9.00a.m.The Principal and the Teachers were honoured by the Prefects, Students, SDS and OGA. Mrs.Geethagowri Vjieyadeva member of London OGA was the chief guest. Students have shown their gratitude through various programmes. SDS gave away presents to teachers while OGA arranged a delicious lunch on this occasion. Teachers’ Programmes added the prettiness of the function.(Photos)
